When you use your body for resistance, you become a portable workout machine! You can perform workouts anywhere and at anytime when you don’t have to use fitness equipment.
It’s free. You don’t have to buy equipment or join a gym to be able to exercise, you already have the only tool you need- your body!
No-Equipment Strength Training is functional. The movements you do are more natural to strengthen your body for activities that you perform everyday rather than moving with equipment that can controls how you move.
Your body can easily go outside. Exercising outside is an amazing experience and No-Equipment Strength Training means you don’t need to lug any type of equipment with you.
When you are not changing your fitness equipment it is very easy to combine cardio and strength training activities for an effective and complete workout.
Here is an example of a No-Equipment Strength Training Workout for the Entire Body…
The Warm-up- Take a moderately paced 10-15 minute walk to circulate blood to your muscles and prepare your body to be able to perform when you start exerting yourself with strength training.
The Strength Training Exercises- Perform about 10-15 reps of each exercise in the order they are listed. To keep your heart rate up do one exercise right after the other without resting in between.
When you have completed all of the exercises, go back to the beginning and repeat the whole sequence 2 more times. Each exercise can be modified to be easier or very challenging according to your current fitness level.
1-Squats
2-Pushups
3-On The Floor Back Extensions
4-Walking Lunges
5-Tricep Dips (with a chair or step)
6-Step-ups (on the bottom stair)
7-Plank- 1 minute
After you have completed the sequence 3 times you have the option to complete your workout with a stretch or to continue with 20-30 minutes of walking or jogging.
Simple…right? You may find at first that lifting and pushing your bodyweight is quite challenging. However, the more that you practice it, the stronger you will become.
Remember that No-Equipment Strength Training is Only Effective If You Do It Right
Make sure that you do every exercise with correct form and at the right intensity for your physique. If you fail to perform an exercise properly you do not get the maximum benefits and you set yourself up for injury.
Ask your personal trainer to help you put together a program that is correctly modified for your fitness level and show you how to do things properly. As you get stronger you will be able to mix up and progress your routine.
